What I Offer
Western Medical Herbalism is a practice that combines traditional herbal knowledge with modern medical science and research in the treatment of disease and the achievement of optimal health. Using this approach, I treat the whole person and not just their symptoms, working with the body’s natural capacity for healing. Western Herbalism seeks to address the root causes of ill health and takes account of how the body systems work together to maintain health, as well as the environmental, emotional and social well-being of the individual.
Prescribing
I tailor my herbal medicines to the individual and work with my patients to make achievable lifestyle and dietary changes that will address root causes and optimise their health. Herbal medicines are made from the whole plant, rather than isolated extracts, due to the synergistic effect of the constituents. These herbal prescriptions will be carefully chosen to work safely alongside any medications being taking by the patient. I provide integrative care to my patients and may refer them to their GPs or other health professionals, for further investigations as appropriate and by agreement.
